Sunshine After The Rain
How totally ironic.
Moments after I posted the entry regarding the hectic demands of school life,
lo and behold...last minute atomic bombshells ala 'Fat Man' and 'Little Boy'
comes crashing down on me. At the very last minute, I was told that I would
be observed on Monday so that my mentor could write a report. WTF? Barely
enough time to prepare as it was, I was rushing up the stairs towards the
resource room when the English HOD caught hold of me. Initially she'd told me
that my observation should last till the 4th week. Apparently she'd changed her
mind and decided that I should start on the 4th week. It was already Thursday,
and by the time she was done telling me what to do, it was already 1830 hrs, the
air condition was off, and I was one out of 3 souls left in the school.
How to plan you tell me? Friday? Freak~! That's a public holiday~!!!
In the end, I had to lug all my resources home together with my laptop and do it
at home. Friday was spent unwinding; I was pretty frustrated at the last minute
nature off these instructions and expectations, but the time taken to cool off helped.
Went in withe Weiz, Alan n Vince to the 1st link to have supper and saw the 1st
other SV400S on the road. FU or FW plate 3 digit number. Malay chap who stopped
when he saw me and nodded to me.
Saturday saw me slogging away for my Math lesson observation plan. I was wrecking
my brains trying to device methods to add spice to the lesson, since both prior
observations had been nothing short of disastrous. I also shunned the use of I.T, my
1st lesson observation having been botched as a result. By the end of the planning I
was so mentally exhausted I couldn't bring myself to start on my English. I tried to
start reading but my head felt so full I absorbed nothing at all. Ah well...
Went to GP to eat zhi cha...the food wasn't that bad and cost a mere RM21, which
was pretty little for the wide spread of delicacies we enjoyed. Tried out my top end
again but I couldn't break the 190km/h barrier....and it didn't help ego matters when
Shoei's TLR zipped past me so fast I couldn't see his taillight when I was trying to
reach my top end. Went to Mitre's Hotel with WQ and MZ.
Woke up Sunday afternoon to some bad news. She called me, telling me that she'd
been involved in an accident. Apparently she was running late, asked E to fetch her,
and E had rearended a taxi's arsecheeks. There's a long story as to how they
negotiated with the cabby, but I'll just skip that coz its no concern of mine. But if
she'd called me immediately after, I might have been able to help.
Rushed down to accompany her to the clinic. She had some light abrasions on her
wrist, but the most serious injury was this hole in her calf. Apparently, the impact
had forced her leg against something thin and long, resulting in a hole 4mm in
diameter that looked pretty deep and kept oozing blood. The sight of that really
wrenched my heart, and even now as I think about it and type it out, I still feel that
twist in my heart. HaiZ~...to see someone I care for suffer...
We went to the nearby 24 hour clinic that charged her $38 for a tetanus jab and
light dressing -_-' The GP'd recommended that she go for a X-Ray to determine
if she had any impurities or foreign objects lodged in her wound. And so we went
to NUH A&E and waited. And waited. And waited. She got worried about her yet to
be completed assignment. Complained. Cried. I felt apprehensive too, since I hadn't
even started on my lesson planning for the English lessons I was to give.
Finally at 9pm it was all over. They'd glued her wound shut, prescribed painkillers,
and charged me $70... I sent her back and rushed home to complete my English lesson
plan.
During the lesson observation the next day, I was kinda put off footing when the
Principal decided to sit in as well...I'd only been mentally prepared for the HOD's
presence and the unexpected pressure of the big boss' scrutinity caused that excess
pressure to come crashing down onto my shoulders. I slipped up, more than once out
of nervousness. My mouth felt dry and parched even though I'd drank plenty of water
before. But I made it through. HOD told me I should have made more allowances to the
slower pupils, and that I should have stuck to my time schedule, that I had deviated
from grossly.
So finally everything's over. I can heave a sigh of relief and sit back, for a while. I
have the time to blog again. Ahhh~
It's her birthday today, and so I'd like to dedicate this entire post to her. It feels so
refreshing to be let off the stress, and seeing her today would just be like the sunshine
after the rain.
I got to go and plan my English AGAIN~...the HOD changed her mind again and now I
have to cater to the weakest students (the worst of the lot had 1 mark last year) instead
of the best students (1st arrangement) or the borderline failures (2nd arrangement)...
Riding hard, fast, safely AND taking a few corners.
