Losing It
I feel I'm losing her. Slowly. But Surely.
There's a sense of dawning despair that washes over my visage.
The realisation that, as I brush her hair from her face, makes me
wonder how many more times I would be able to perform that
simple act of affection. How many more times would I be able to
simply gaze into her eyes. Or wrap my arms around her shoulder.
Simple things like this that I often did without thought. That I more
often than not took for granted. Suddenly in peril.
The ardour we used to have seems to have simmered down, leaving
but softly glowing embers, fighting to stay alive.
The finality of it all....I am weary to death from struggling. Should I
press on? Or should I just let it all go....ashes to ashes...
Sometimes, I don't even know what I'm fighting for. Her heart?
Her soul? Her company? Her regard? What? It's suddenly so unclear,
so futile. Even with that confession things are still back to square one.
Is it even worth the effort? I'd like to think so, but I am reaching the
point where everything seems to be so meaningless and futile. I feel
I've done all I can, to the best of my abilities.
The ball's in her court.
I just realised I like to write in short sentences for emphasis...
Riding hard, fast, safely AND taking a few corners.
