Imagined Ecstacy
Imagine.
Sitting in a small, air-conditioned building. A pen in your hand.
You sign. On the dotted line. The one on the other end of the desk,
he hands you a set of keys, and a log card.
You take it, open the wooden door and step down...desending...
All this while, an intense excitement rises, bubbling from the pits of
your stomach.
Below, the mechanic pauses in his tinkerings and gestures towards IT.
The bubbling spreads into a kind of euphoria...you hardly feel conscious
of your steps. IT seems like it is drawing you towards IT.
You draw beside IT, not daring to touch IT...not even daring to breathe...
Afraid that after all this while, it is only a dream. But even if it is,
You don't want to wake up.
You reach out a hand, tentatively and touch the gleaming surface of the
fuel tank. The mechanic barks in rascuous laughter at your hesitance.
You lower your hand. Enjoying the sensation of smoothness the laquered
paintwork provides. Lovingly, you run your hands along the fairing.
You trail your fingers along the sideboards, and move forward, talking
in with relish the wicked headlight array.
You move down,
admiring the radial brake system...
Sucking in your breath at the inverted forks...
As you straighten up, your hand encounters the rubbery grip of the throttle.
You grip it, and swing your left leg over the seats, sitting on the seat for the very
1st time. The mechanic and the boss look on as you fumble for the keys,
struggling to keep the silly grin that keeps returning to plaster itself all over
your face.
Keys slotted in. Ignition switch on. The soft, mechanical "ee" sound as the
diagnostics open and close the EXUP valve. You look up. And come into eye
contact with the boss. He nods. Red start button. The coarse *ehhehehhhheh*
sound of the spark plugs firing in time...and then...."VROOOOOM~~!!!...HOHOHO"
IT comes alive. The tachometer leaps into action as you listen in extreme
satisfaction to the loud report of the Yoshimura exhaust canister...
Behold...
Your brand new YZF-R6...Ready for action!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~~~
Or maybe a blue one?
Momma help me...I can't freakin' wait!!!!

Came across this website with interesting ideas on bike names...
Here are some examples..plagurised from his website.
Africa twin Ok supposed to inspire the type of bike for Africa works OK for the bike.
Bandit The marketing burp says ‘Themost wanted’ Its not exactly a best seller so I don’t get it. But it has kinda of adopted the image as a hoon bike of choice till recently.
Burgman What ? Quite inappropriate really. It a scooter though so fits the really weird scooter names standard.
Deauville Sounds like dull you see.. but then the bike is kinda of appropriate … also sounds French, though I don;t see the French connection (ha ha - get it?)
Dominator Interesting name a bit over the top for this sort of bike though. Ie Single cylinder trail bike.
Diversion Interesting but I still don’t get it.
Drifter Very appropriate name for the bike. It is a cruiser after all !
Eliminator Interesting choice for this sort of bike but still not really appropriate. Ie cruiser style.
Fazer Has Star Trek conotations so unless the bike looks anything like a ray gun or space ship its not really going to work.
Fireblade Nice made up name and installs a good image for the type of bike.
Firestorm Interesting name but a bit over the top name for the bike.
Foresight Oh dear this is inapproapriate.
Freewind Pleaaaase this is a very silly name.
Goldwing almost appropriate but more gold trimming pls.
Intruder - Not very good choice at bit silly. Ie a cruiser.
Katana Sort of appropriate when the bike was released by now definitely NOT.
Marauder Pirate inspired obviously but as a cruiser Ie road version it doesn't fully work.
Majesty You have got to be kidding these are scooters you know.
Ninja Sort of competition to the Katana and Fireblade really, appropriate for the time but definitely not now.
Nighthawk This is totally inappropriate.
Pan-European Again an appropriate name though I think slightly over the top cause it also has former airline company aside from the more approprite 747 conotations to me.
Rebel This is not a very good choice and utterly inappropriate. Ie a cruiser available as a 250cc twin based on the CB250.
Thunderace A made up name with little association to the bike
Thundercat Another made up name with little association to the bike.
Trans-Alp European mountain crossing type bike seems approapriate.
V-Max Think this is a great name, suits the bike during its day in the sun.
Virago Interesting but again don’t get it.
Valkyrie The look is appropriate ie big bike and the female warrior conotation is interesting.
Interesting eh?
Riding hard, fast, safely AND taking a few corners.
