Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi has won the world MotoGP (again, and again, and again), even after moving from Honda's RCV 211 to Yamaha's not so sublime M1. In seeking further challenges, he's getting serious with F1 racing. In order to shave off precious seconds he has adopted his own personal racing style, as he did on motorcycles. The following spy photo was taken while he beat Schumaker's personal best record at the Ferrari testing track. Check it out.

2005 Is Dying

Yep. The year is finally coming to a close. Another 5 more days to go, and 2005 will officially be over, a thing of the past, a distant memory. And I couldn't be gladder.

It's 4:30am in the morning. I missed my class 2 lesson yesterday and have another one in 3 hours time. I'm bone tired, but there are simply too many things in my mind to allow me restful sleep. Looking back at my past blog entries, I realise how the flow of time changes everything. Just a year ago, I had different aspirations, different dreams. A different loved one. Different things to do. Different things I'd talk about. Funny how time creeps up on a man. I didn't use to think the way I do now before.

A year ago, I'd just gotten my SV. Now, I am making plans to let go of that magnificent ride because of her mum. A year ago, I was a teacher, impacting many little lives with each word and gesture I made. Now, my life is my own, and instead of striving to be a good teacher, I have taken up the mantle of being a student once again. A year ago, Adeline was my soulmate, someone I shared everything with, planned to marry even. Now, I hardly ever see her, or hear from her at all. It's funny how swiftly change takes place.

2005 has been a really bad year. Aspirations dashed. Relationships that had stood the test of time shattered in this capricious annum. Many of my friends assumed too that I'd end up marrying Adeline, our relationship having stood the test that National Service presented. And if you thought my close to 4 year relationship was long, how about XL, who broke up after 6 long years with his girl? WQ was in his relationship for 3 1/2 years, his parents also expecting the pair to tie the knot. And we were not the only ones. By September, I'd already lost count of the number of friends I personally knew who had broken up. The last count was 23 couples.

Staggering, innit? Which is why I can hardly wait for the year to end, and hope that 2006 will bring brighter days, if not for me, then for those around me. The one good thing that I am thankful for that happened to me this year, the only thing that makes going through this year seem worth it, was ZW. The last 3 days spent with her were arguably the best, sweetest days I've had for the entire year. And possibly one of the best Christmas Eves, Christmas Days and Boxing Days that I've ever had. It seems that, just as as the White Witch's power waned and the winter turned into summer, that as 2005 dies, the accompanying misfortunes that rode piggyback on it start losing their grip as well.

I for one will certainly not look back when 2005 concludes like a door that shuts, and is never ever opened again.

Who Am I, Really?

A keychain Adeline got for me ages ago says this of my name:

Caleb
Faithfulness

I know the Bible character was a member of the lowest Arabic castes, that the name Caleb was likened to a dog, which to Arabs was a detestable creature. The folk who made the keychain probably took the characteristics of a dog, ie faithfulness, to put there.

And then, a refridgerator magnet Xiao Xi gave me says this:

Caleb
Bold One

Characteristics: Suggests a loyal, faithful and honest guy. He is easily influenced by woman. Though he has many friends, he has only but a few close ones.

Isn't that so true...

You Are A: Duck!

duckFound in many lakes and ponds, ducks are a common site the world over. Known for their famous quack, ducks tend to congregate in flocks or go off on their own in pairs. As a duck, you may seem friendly at times but will not hesitate to bite if someone is bothering you. Your love for travel and your ability to swim are some reasons why you are a duck.

Sawardi-kup

From today onwards, distance is no longer an inhibiting factor to me.

The trip to Cluny Park cheered me up, cleared my mind. I managed to grab 2-3 hours of sleep before setting off to GP Esso, where a narry of Phantom Knights waited to send us off.

*pic removed...refer to link*

Mileage clocked to and fro GP Esso was 1819.7km, making any of those trips before seem like a mere pittance compared to this.

and JJBubble's album at:

We set off at a comfortable pace of 130km/h since it was raining, but by the time we arrived at Ayer Kerok, the rain had abated somewhat and we were able to increase our speed to 150-160km/h, arriving in the viscinity of KL in under 3 1/2 hours. I think when I've upgraded, KL on weekends could become a regularity for me, given the relatively short travelling time taken to get there.

It was daybreak by the time we arrived at the Thai border, and I could finally change my visor to my tinted one; the clear one that WeiZ bought for me was over large, and allowed wind to gush in from the gaps, drying out my eyes so I couldn't see properly. The 1st thing I noted about the country was how it's places all sounded somewhat vulgar. 'Whoao Khao Municipality Park' for instance?

We arrived at Carrefour for a meal, and our 1st Thai dish was an utter disappointment; Dad had told me that Thai food far surpassed Malaysian food, but the fish maw soup at Pharng Kang Foodcourt tasted like shit. A deceptively docile looking vegetable in yellow gravy turned out to be one of the spiciest dishes I've ever taken, and it stung my ulcer. We booked into the hotel at 9:30, after the crummy meal, making the travelling time 9 hours, as we left at 12:30am.

I slept till 3:30pm, and went with WeiZ to eat shark's fin soup and bird's nest soup. I haven't eaten the latter since God-knows-when, and it struck me that Hatyai was really a place where one could pamper himself. I met StaroceanX there, and he brought me to the market and Lee Garden to shop, where I found a myraid things I could get for ZW. I went for a traditional full body massage at the parlour where StaroceanX's wife used to work, and she introduced us to her ex-colleagues. The massage was rather comfy, but the girl didn't have much strength leh...and so the shiok only lasted for as long as the massage lasted. After which, we went for a sumptious seafood spread with Alan and his wife. We went to Paragon after that, a disco sort of thing that Ah Horng (Alan's wife) claimed to have a 'sexy show' at 10:30pm. The show involved a few thai girls wearing precious little, singing a mixture of thai, mandarin and english songs. Some were really very beautiful, but we suspected that they could've been transversites. Performers who'd earned the favour of the audience would receive a string of beads that they hung around their neck.

I was very impressed with the Thai people. So courteous, always smiling and going 'sawardi-kup'...and yet they can be fierce when they need to be. It's just sad that such a cordial race of people have to turn to the sex trade in order to thrive. Such a pity.

The stupid thing was I paid 300 baht to use the toilet there. I'm way too sick to think of how I should put it in words so I'll probably edit this if and when I feel like it.

We had a sumptious tim sum breakfast the next morning, and had a foot massage and manicure before leaving. But the return trip was to prove to be a nightmare which started with my master cylinder going down whilst riding through heavy rain when water entered my spark coil. Conditions steadily degenerated, with unfortunate events occuring one after another, events that I shan't elaborate on yet as the parties involved wish to keep it low key. But the events resulted in the 9 hour road trip stretching till 19 hours. Caught in the perpetual rain and without enough sleep, I succumbed to the chill and am now feeling like fuck.

Argh...I'm too sick to coherently piece the words together...so that's it for now.

Deafening Silence

The rhythmic thrum of the air conditioner working to keep the heat at bay permeates my room, but does nothing to lessen the roaring crescendo of silence raging in my heart. I have tried, and am still trying my utmost to move her, receiving at best ambiguous responses. I know, I'm not superman. I don't even have a slight inkling of his superhuman powers. I'm just a puny mortal, who, having been buffeted by gale winds am trying my utmost given the battered and bruised state I am in.

Yes I know. Don't expect too much from myself. But then, if you knew that there would be the possibility of your loved one leaving you, would you do any less? Would you sit back helplessly? Or forge onwards against the odds. Although I know it's hard, I will still strive on, hoping against hope that the effort I muster would be enough, even if the result is puny as befits a puny mortal like me.

I should be excited. After all, I am about to embark on a journey beyond my wildest imaginations; a ride up to Thailand. It's 888km one way, and I'm praying for journey mercies and a smooth ride up. And yet, I wonder if I'm in the right state of mind for such an ardous journey. Being alone on the darkened highway, my mind would have free reign to wander, and an idle mind is the devil's workshop. And coupled with the current weather conditions, this could very well be my last blog post. But then again, the journey could prove to be a welcome distraction from the troubles at hand.

I am glad for one person who was there for me when she didn't need to. I also thank God for his grace in providing me with a bossom buddy who gave me everything I need to cheer up. Cluny Park's a nice place, especially at sunset.

I'll return with pictures.
